Situated at the mouth of Inverkip Marina this wood fired wild sauna gives views across the Firth of Clyde allowing you to watch the mist roll in or the boats sail by.

Wooden building with large window, "SAUNA" spelled in rustic wood letters on the front. Overcast sky reflects on the glass.

Our Wild Sauna Visit

We visited Clyde Coast Sauna on the wettest, grey-est Saturday in a long time. It really didn't matter though because this sauna was clean, dry and warm. We loved watching the weather changing through the picture window out over the Firth of Clyde and its unique location at the mouth of a working marina meant there was more than the weather to watch.

Guide to Facilities

Parking

There is generous parking after driving through the marina itself, past the main building and through the barrier. You are given the code to use the barrier after booking.

Changing

There are 3 wooden changing huts with clothes hooks, next to the sauna. A large container was available to store belongings. There are public toilets outwith the marina complex.

Host

Our very welcoming host gave us a quick run down of where everything was, explaining water safety guidelines, including how the buoys and channels work since boats regularly enter and exit the marina. The host checked on the stove halfway through our session and kept the floor clear of sand.

The Hot Bit
There is an entrance area to keep towels or water bottles while you are in the sauna. This inner door also prevents heat loss. The wood fired sauna has two tiered seating for 8 facing a large window that offers lovely views across the Firth of Clyde. There is a sand timer to keep track of your session.

The Cold Bit

There are multiple options to cool down at this wild sauna. Two showers and a large plunge barrel offer a quick cool down or of course only a few metres away (at high tide at least) is the Clyde. For those wanting a more gradual cool down, there are some deck chairs and benches available to sit on.

Food/Drinks Nearby

The cafe within the marina has seasonal opening hours so was unfortunately closed at the time of our visit. Instead we grabbed some food from the Inverkip Sainsbury's for an impromptu picnic at the nearby Lunderston Bay beach.

Good to Know

Clyde Coast wild sauna offers a discount code for first time visits as well as loyalty card for return visitors. On booking there options to add a bottle of water or Salt Scrub.
