Noost at Rosneath Castle : Helensburgh
Set on the shore of Gare Loch within Rosneath Caravan Park, around an hour from Glasgow, Noost Wild Sauna offers a peaceful sauna experience surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Rosneath Peninsula in Argyll. Named after the traditional Scottish coastal shelter used to protect boats by the water’s edge, “Noost” is a fitting name for this cosy wild sauna overlooking the loch.

Our Wild Sauna Visit
We visited Noost wild Sauna on a beautiful, sunny and clear day in September. The drive there is incredibly scenic and we found ourselves feeling more and more relaxed as we got closer. The peaceful surroundings and stunning views made the journey feel like part of the experience itself.

Guide to Facilities
Parking & Directions
The Noost is situated within Rosneath Caravan Park, right on the shorefront. There’s a convenient parking area next to the sauna, by the Watersports Facilities building, so it’s easy to park up and make your way straight to the sauna.
Changing
Inside the main building next to the sauna, there are changing rooms equipped with showers and lockers. These facilities are shared with individuals participating in watersport activities.
Host
Our host Katie came out to greet us and gave us a quick rundown of the sauna rules before leaving us to enjoy the experience. As the Noost is an electric sauna, there was no need for our host to tend to it during our session so we didn’t see her again. A quick check-in during the session would have been a nice touch, just to make sure everything was going well and that we had everything we needed.
The Hot Bit
The Noost Wild Sauna is a spacious electric sauna that can comfortably seat up to seven people across two tiers of L-shaped benches. One of its standout features is the large picture window, which offers beautiful views across Gare Loch with sailboats often passing by. On a clear day, like our visit, you can see the Arrochar Alps and beyond, making the view a real highlight of the experience.
Being an electric sauna, the temperature stays at a comfortable and consistent 90°C, which felt just right for a good sauna session. There’s also a small entrance porch with hooks and space to leave some of your belongings or water bottles.
The Cold Bit
For a truly wild experience, take a dook in Gare Loch. As it’s a sea loch, the water is just a few steps from the sauna door at high tide and only a little further at low tide. It’s the perfect way to cool off after your hot sauna session.
There’s also an outdoor shower and drench bucket right next to the sauna, giving you a few different options for cooling down. Lastly, the benches outside provide the perfect spot to gently cool off while taking in the beautiful views across the loch and surrounding landscape.
Food/Drinks Nearby
A cold water jug and a selection of fruit teas are available for sauna goers. If you are after something more, then the Castle Isle Bar & Restaurant is the on-site food option within Rosneath Castle Park, which is just at the entrance to the park.
Good to Know
The Noost offers a loyalty card for regulars.
